KBRS is thrilled to have had the opportunity to support the Alternative Resource Energy Authority (AREA) in the appointment of their inaugural shared Director of Electric Utilities Glen Bannon.

The following is an excerpt from their recent announcement.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Glen Bannon as AREA’s new shared Director of Electric Utilities. In collaboration with the municipal electric utilities of the Town of Berwick, the Town of Mahone Bay and the Riverport Electric Light Commission, Glen will play a pivotal role in creating a more sustainable future and energy-efficient communities by identifying opportunities to leverage synergies, creating economies of scale, and producing increased efficiencies across these entities.

Glen brings a wealth of experience that will greatly benefit the organizations represented by AREA. Throughout Glen’s impressive career he has served as an officer with the Royal Canadian Navy for twenty years; held key leadership roles in the municipal sector with budget accountability to several municipal councils while delivering high-quality public transit services to Nova Scotian communities; and for the last four years lead a team of nineteen as a Senior Manager of Engineering for Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax.

Glen has an extensive project management background and specializes in organizational change management. His leadership is characterized by collaboration, empowerment, and continuous innovation and improvement. His expertise and vision align closely with our collective goals and objectives of managing and delivering exceptionally efficient and effective municipal electric utility services to our communities.

The search committee is confident that Glen will play a pivotal role in streamlining operations, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring the sustainability and resilience of our utility services for the benefit of all customers.
