Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Becoming a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization is a journey that requires continuous learning and commitment. Our team actively works to address DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in a meaningful and authentic way to achieve lasting transformation.
We strive to create supportive experiences for all people in equity-deserving groups, including our clients, candidates, and colleagues.
We continually refine our policies and practices – embedding DEI Principles in the way work – with guidance from our DEI Lead, the support of our senior leadership team, and insight from our DEI Committee.
Community Involvement
Strong proponents of volunteerism and community leadership, we support the involvement of our team members in community organizations dedicated to addressing the needs of equity-deserving groups and DEI.
Each year our team volunteers hundreds of hours to support diversity, equity, and inclusion related initiatives, including participation on boards and task forces, educational events, mentorship and sponsorship, and volunteering at community events.
Our Learning Journey in Decolonizing The Way We Work
Our team at KBRS is grateful to live and work on many different parts of the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island. We have had the honour of working with Indigenous scholars, academic leaders and Elders involved in consultation work. We recognize the sovereignty of Indigenous Peoples and are grateful for the opportunity to address systemic inequalities that persist in recruitment.
We have offices located on the territory of many nations including the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, and ancestral homelands of the Beothuk.
We know how important it is to work with Indigenous communities to decolonize search processes and we are committed to listening and learning in each initiative we undertake.
As a part of our commitment, our team has completed Indigenous Treaty Partners’(ITP) Professional Indigenous Ally Training Program. We are proud to partner with ITP to offer clients cultural sensitivity training and innovative approaches to recruitment strategies and onboarding informed by Two-Eyed Seeing (combining the worldviews and beliefs of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples to solve problems in unique ways).
