Established in 1946, the Maritime College of Forest Technology (MCFT) has graduated over 3,300 students over the last 70 years and is grounded in its deep commitment to producing quality graduates primed for work in the natural resource sector. With campuses in Fredericton and Bathurst, MCFT specializes in natural resource education, offering a Forest Technology Diploma program focused on forestry dynamics, data collection, wildlife habitat, management, and current issues as well as an Advanced Diploma Program in Fish and Wildlife Technology focused on developing the skills and knowledge associated with monitoring and assessing wildlife species and their habitats. Now, MCFT is seeking its next Executive Director to champion its vision to be the recognized leader in forestry and natural resources education and to provide a world-class educational experience that equips graduates to lead in the forestry and natural resources sectors.

 

The Role

 

Based in Fredericton, NB, and reporting to the Board of Governors, the Executive Director will:

 

• Oversee MCFT's overall administration, strategic planning, and successful operation.
• Lead, develop and execute a strategic vision for MCFT in alignment with its mission and goals.
• Collaborate with MCFT's faculty to build and maintain high-value programming that serves diverse students through inclusive program excellence.
• Support the MCFT’s Board to set and enhance program innovation, strategic relationships, and innovative strategies that guide the organization.
• Foster operational excellence and implement technology solutions to improve administrative and academic processes.
• Ensure the efficient use of resources and infrastructure to enhance the institution’s impact and maintain solid financial health.
• Establish strong relationships with funders and key industry, academic and community partners.
• Provide inspirational leadership to faculty, staff, students, and alumni alike.
• Drive enrollment and elevate the organizational brand through strong marketing, recruitment, and communications strategies; and,
• Serve as a passionate champion of MCFT and the broad-reaching positive impact of its graduates on the forestry sector.

You bring experience successfully leading teams, working with boards, stewarding budgets, developing strategic plans, fostering operational excellence, and championing organizational change, ideally within the education sector. You come to the role with change management skills, experience, and the ability to lead and support an institution through a period of evolution. As a natural team builder, you are adept at cultivating a positive and inclusive work environment and fostering a cohesive and productive organizational culture. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills enable you to establish strong relationships with key partners outside of your organization and to effectively seek and identify funding opportunities that ensure the successful creation and offering of innovative programs and initiatives. Vision, high integrity, and the ability to quickly establish rapport and trust with others are hallmarks of your leadership. You are a highly effective communicator with a proven ability to clearly communicate a vision and sound business strategy and to inspire, engage and motivate others in the pursuit of organizational goals.
