All Business Online News Group was launched in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2001 as allNovaScotia. Originally focused on news within Nova Scotia, the organization has since launched allNewfoundlandandLabrador, allNewBrunswick, allSaskatchewan, and allAlberta. In July 2025, All Business Online News Group announced its first ever acquisition with the purchase of Alberta Today and British Columbia Today, furthering its nation-wide presence. Over the past 24 years, the company has grown to a staff size of 55 employees and amassed a paid subscriber base of over 21,000 loyal customers. Operating out of eight downtown newsrooms across five provinces, many of the journalists and editors at All Business Online News Group are company shareholders. Now, as the company enters a new era in its growth trajectory, All Business Online News Group is seeking a Vice President, Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Publisher and President, the Vice President, Operations will be responsible for balancing day-to-day operational oversight with strategic leadership. One of the key elements of this position will be ensuring critical details are managed effectively, while empowering teams through thoughtful delegation. The Vice President, Operations will face the duality of managing minutia while working toward big picture goals.
More specifically, the Vice President, Operations will lead the sales function of the business to help drive revenue and market expansion, manage cash flow and oversee departmental budgets, actively participate in employee and shareholder relations, and advise on business systems and technology infrastructure, enabling the company to scale and evolve its digital capabilities.
The Vice President, Operations will primarily focus on business operations and will not contribute to the editorial or publishing side of the business. However, it is preferred that the Vice President, Operations is passionate about news and journalism.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Sales and Revenue Growth: lead inside sales including subscription renewals, advertising, and expansions.
- Facilities and Business Operations: Manage day-to-day operations across offices in Halifax, Saint John, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, and St. John’s.
- Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Lead corporate services, maintain confidentiality, cultivate stakeholder trust, internally and externally.
- Tech Enablement: Collaborate closely with IT to optimize our digital platforms, security, and journalism workflow.
- Strategic Oversight: Bring commercial vision and operational discipline to support journalistic excellence, balancing the macro strategy with granular execution.
- Governance: Work with a small board of four to support strategic organizational goals
Based out of the Halifax newsroom, this position will require an entrepreneurial passion for the business and will be required to work in-office five days per week.
