MacEwan University Welcomes Dr. Christy Raymond as Dean, Faculty of Nursing

University president Dr. Annette Trimbee is pleased to announce that Dr. Christy Raymond has been appointed Dean, Faculty of Nursing, effective June 1, 2021.

Dr. Raymond returns to MacEwan University after four years at the University of Alberta, where, amongst other responsibilities, she was associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs in their Faculty of Nursing. She will serve an initial term to June 30, 2026.

“Dr. Raymond's expertise in curriculum development and scholarship of teaching and learning complements MacEwan’s learner-centered approach to post-secondary education,” says Dr. Trimbee. “Dr. Raymond’s nationally recognized leadership skills and her accomplished research work will help to grow MacEwan and further enrich the student experience and the institution.”

Dr. Raymond was appointed after a thorough search, which occurred online due to the pandemic. According to Dr. Craig Monk, MacEwan’s provost and vice-president, Academic, the virtual format provided opportunities for an unprecedented number of members of the MacEwan community to engage in the recruitment process. Dr. Monk chaired the search committee assembled under university policy which included faculty, staff, and student representation.

Dr. Raymond will take up a faculty position as professor in the Department of Health Systems & Sustainability.
