Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL –

The Goose Bay Airport Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Rex Goudie as the new Chief Executive Officer of Goose Bay Airport. His role will provide strategic leadership and management to the Airport, working with all of our key partners to ensure that operations continue to run smoothly.

Mr. Goudie is a very active member in the Labrador community both professionally and personally with an extensive background in the project management and program delivery related to the economic and social development of the region. In his role as Manager – Field Operations for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, he built strong productive and trusting relationships with community and Indigenous groups in the region. This coupled with his good sense of the political landscape and ability to navigate different partner contexts will serve the Corporation well. As Coordinator – Comprehensive Labrador Agreement Mr. Goudie demonstrated his skill in project management through delivery of a multi-sectoral agreement that included managing major capital projects in remote regions and building consensus with government and community partners.

Indigenous relationships are important to the airport and Mr. Goudie has demonstrated his commitment and contributions to Indigenous Reconciliation by building respectful relationships with Indigenous groups in his role as Assistant Deputy Minister for the Department of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs and as chair of the ACOA-NL Indigenous Economic Development Working Group.

In addition to his significant leadership experience, Mr. Goudie received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University. Locally, he has been involved in a number of volunteer groups including the International Grenfell Association, Rotary Club of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Amaruk Golf Club, Labrador Winter Games and the Grenfell Foundation (Labrador East Chapter) that shows his deep commitment to the local community by connecting, engaging and pursuing initiatives that improve the quality of life and well-being for Indigenous and community groups in Labrador.

“The committee was impressed by Rex’s strong leadership skills and visionary thinking along with his many productive relationships with industry, government, community and Indigenous partners. We are confident he will help us advance the continued growth of the airport and I’m so pleased to welcome him to The Goose Bay Airport Corporation, said Dean Clarke, Chair of the Board.

“Happy Valley-Goose Bay is a special community that means a lot to me. Our airport is at the core of this community and is something to be proud of. I am looking forward to learning from new colleagues, partners, and the Goose Bay Airport community. I can’t wait to get to work,” said Goudie upon his appointment.

Goose Bay Airport would like to extend its gratitude to the search committee for their time spent working with KBRS Executive Search on this critical hire for the airport.

Rex will begin his role as CEO starting on September 11th.

Congratulations and welcome to Goose Bay Airport, Rex!
