FYI: Port of Belledune Welcomes New Corporate Legal Secretary

KBRS is pleased to have assisted the Port of Belledune in the appointment of Jennifer Cleversey Moffitt as their new Corporate Legal Secretary, effective January 6, 2020.

Cleversey Moffitt, a practicing member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, is a seasoned and dynamic legal professional with over 15 years of experience in the industry in Atlantic Canada. She brings to the role a strong background in corporate governance, policy, regulatory, and legal administration as well as a client-centered mentality.

In her most recent role, she served for over ten years as In-House Counsel for a New Brunswick-based consulting firm, acting as chief negotiator with private sector parties, municipalities, and government officials, and working with clients to manage federal and provincial government partners in securing project funding. In 2017 Cleversey Moffitt was appointed as a Member of the Federal Government’s Appeal Division, Social Security Tribunal; in 2015 she was appointed as Vice-Chairperson for New Brunswick’s Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal; and in 2013, as a Small Claims Court Adjudicator for the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Attorney General.

As the Corporate Legal Secretary for the Port of Belledune, Cleversey Moffitt will ensure the integrity of the governance framework of the organization. She will act as an advisor to the President and CEO, the Board of Directors, and the Chair, and will work within a complex governance model to identify risks, challenges, and opportunities while building relationships for open communication of these issues.

Cleversey Moffitt earned a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 2003 along with a Master of Business Administration. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science from the institution.
