techNL Appoints Andrea King as Chief Executive Officer

KBRS is pleased to have assisted in the appointment of Andrea King as CEO for techNL. The following is an excerpt from their recent announcement.

June 10, 2026 – St. John’s, NL – Today, techNL is pleased to announce Andrea King’s appointment as its next Chief Executive Officer.  

Reporting to the Board of Directors, Andrea will lead the organization’s vision, strategy, and operations, championing the interests of member companies while strengthening advocacy, partnerships, and programs that accelerate the growth of Newfoundland and Labrador’s technology sector. In this role, she will serve as a leading voice for the sector, building trusted relationships across industry, government, post-secondary institutions, investors, and national partners to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

Andrea brings a global perspective shaped by work in more than 25 countries, as well as deep experience across technology, media, finance, and entrepreneurship. She has worked across every stage of company growth as a founder, operator, investor, board member, and advisor bringing a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing Newfoundland and Labrador's technology companies, along with a proven ability to build partnerships, identify opportunities, and drive growth.

Andrea's career spans senior leadership roles in both the private and public sectors. After more than a decade in international finance, she served as CEO of State 23 Media, as Director of Media and Government Relations at Nasdaq Verafin, and most recently co-founded an AI startup. A serial entrepreneur, Andrea has founded, scaled, and successfully exited companies, giving her firsthand experience building organizations, leading teams, and driving growth.

Andrea is deeply committed to supporting founders and strengthening the tech sector. She is a co-founder and Managing Partner of the Women's Equity Lab Atlantic Investment Group, focused on increasing access to capital for women founders while growing the number of women investors. She continues to support the ecosystem as a mentor with Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), investor with Sandpiper Ventures, and as an advisor to growth-stage technology companies. She also serves on the board of the Innovation and Business Investment Corporation, contributing to the advancement of innovation and economic development in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Andrea’s entrepreneurial spirit, global experience, and ability to connect people and ideas make her exceptionally well suited to lead techNL at a pivotal moment for our sector and our province,” said Johanna Brown, Chair of the Board of Directors, who transitions to the role of Past Chair as of June 10, 2026.  

Andrea welcomed the appointment, stating, “Newfoundland and Labrador has built one of the most entrepreneurial and collaborative tech communities in the country. I'm excited to work alongside founders, operators, investors, government, and our partners to help local companies scale faster, compete globally, and create even more opportunity here at home."
