A not-for-profit organization that represents a membership of 19 universities and colleges throughout Atlantic Canada, Interuniversity Services (ISI)’s team of professionals champions the organization’s mission to enhance value for members through collaborative strategic sourcing. ISI’s core activities include procurement and contract management and, to support this mission, ISI facilitates information and knowledge sharing related to supply management and employee benefits among member institutions. Since its inception in 1984, ISI has evolved and grown, forging stronger collaboration with member institutions and delivering significant realized value in terms of saving costs, generating efficiencies, and mitigating risks.
Now, ISI is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will have the exciting opportunity to lead an organization playing a key role in supporting and furthering collaboration among Atlantic Canada’s leading post-secondary institutions.


Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the Board of Directors, as CEO you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of ISI. You will champion the vision and values of ISI with staff, member institutions, the broader post-secondary education community, and key government representatives. You will ensure operational excellence in the delivery of ISI’s core activities and will work collaboratively with university and college administration and procurement teams across ISI’s member institutions. You will establish strong working relationships with member institutions, and you will cultivate strong awareness of ISI’s mandate, its services, and the significant value achieved through its collaborative, shared services, while strategically leveraging ISI’s impressive buying power of $113.8 million. You will work collaboratively with the Board and ISI’s team in the execution of the organization’s strategic direction, drawing upon 40 years of success in collaborative procurement to enhance and drive impactful initiatives.


Ideal Candidate Profile


As the ideal candidate, you are a collaborative, results-oriented and emotionally intelligent leader and manager with a proven track record leading people and budgets within multi-partner environments. Whether you bring related experience in strategic sourcing, contract management or employee benefits administration, from either the public or private sectors, above all, you are an exceptional communicator, people and operational leader and relationship builder. You are highly comfortable transitioning from strategic advisor to a hands-on role in a small team environment. You bring solid experience working with boards and committees and you are adept at building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with a wide array of partners with diverse perspectives. You have led in a digitally enabled context, you bring broad business and financial acumen and you have proven your ability to engage and motivate others, and to lead initiatives and achieve results through influence and collaboration.
