Senior Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness

Humber College is actively seeking a visionary leader to be their next Senior Dean in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Vice President Academic, the Senior Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness provides strategic and operational leadership over the administrative and academic priorities of the Faculty and contributes to the further development of the Faculty, its programs, industry partnerships, research, student success, and the teaching and learning environment.

As a leader of a dynamic team, the Senior Dean ensures successful design and delivery of the academic and operational plan for the Faculty and encourages the development of mutually supportive partnerships and alliances with all stakeholders, to ensure that the Faculty is an inclusive, student-centered community.

The Senior Dean is also responsible for administrative oversight, ensuring the effective delivery of services and financial performance within the Faculty, while conforming to all external accreditation and licensing requirements. As a collaborative leader, the Senior Dean is responsible for leading and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within and across program clusters, Faculties and organizational departments, as well as academic institutions, industry partners, community partners, government agencies, students and internal stakeholders that support the achievement of the organizational strategic direction of Humber.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all the following qualifications in equal measure, they are desirable and will be used in the assessment of candidates for the position:

  • Post-graduate degree in a field related to the Faculty (PhD achieved or in progress is preferred);
  • Successful senior leadership experience in a post-secondary or similarly complex, multi-stakeholder organization, including experience in strategic planning, financial planning and management, external and government relations, fundraising, and individual and organizational development;
  • Experience operating within a collegial governance structure and unionized environment;
  • Knowledge, sensitivity and an ability to embed equity, diversity and inclusion principles into processes, practices, work culture, and curriculum, particularly Indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing;
  • Experience executing and delivering on academic and operational plans;
  • A demonstrated commitment to ensuring academic excellence, and a passion for teaching, learning, and student success; and
  • Experience working with and/or within a licensed health regulated profession (e.g., nurse, pharmacist, occupational therapist, social worker etc.) considered an asset.

Humber College is located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Alders” in Michi Saagiig language, the region is uniquely situated along the Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues to provide a vital source of interconnection for all.
