The Bragg Group of Companies is seeking its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO), based full-time at the head office in Oxford, Nova Scotia. 

About the Opportunity: 

As a member of a lean and collaborative executive team, the CFO plays an important role in the leadership of the overall strategy and operations of the Bragg Group of Companies, including the execution of its growth strategy, with specific responsibility for the oversight of risk management, financial reporting, auditing, performance management, financial planning, and internal controls. Reporting to the CEO and the Managing Director, Investments, the CFO is a trusted advisor on all aspects of the business and its future, providing reliable financial advice, accurate analysis, and good judgment to make sound recommendations upon which significant decisions can be made.  

The CFO is responsible for:
  • Working with the leaders of the business units to ensure a stable financial structure upon which each company can successfully operate and grow
  • Leading the due diligence process for potential investments and acquisitions, providing oversight of structuring and deal negotiations
  • Working with internal and external auditors to ensure financial standards and practices are maintained
  • Helping coordinate and contribute to quarterly meetings with the Advisory Board

The Ideal Candidate:

A hands-on business and financial expert, you ensure the company has the right structure, people, and functional capabilities to achieve its strategic growth plans while safeguarding the company’s assets and financial stability. You bring the following:
  • CPA followed by many years of senior financial leadership experience
  • Reputation as a trusted business advisor who fosters strategic organizational growth and development, while engaging in the daily activities that ensure that growth
  • Proven ability to execute advanced financial planning
  • Strong history of leading complex negotiations
  • Big-picture thinking, including comfort working both at a strategic and a tactical level – preferring a lean environment where you get to roll up your sleeves and dive into the contracts, data, and spreadsheets yourself
  • Ability to build seamless working relationships with operational and financial leaders across an organization with diverse geographic, industry, and operational environments
  • Candid and a team player who is open-minded and patient in your approach to productive relationships; results-oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver
