Jane Kidner is a results-driven, entrepreneurial leader committed to excellence and the highest standards of client service. With over 20 years of senior leadership experience in two of Canada’s largest universities, the University of Toronto and Ryerson University, Jane has led a variety of portfolios and high performing teams in processes involving innovation, organizational change, stakeholder relations, and building strategic partnerships. Jane also brings deep experience in identifying, hiring, and coaching high performing teams in unionized and non-unionized university settings.
As a lawyer and mediator, Jane’s success is grounded in her practical understanding of the complex university environment and her commitment to working respectfully with senior internal and external stakeholders, building alignment and consensus through persuasion, diplomacy, collaboration, and influence.
In Jane’s most recent role as Executive Director of Ryerson’s Ted Rogers School of Management, Jane was responsible for raising the profile of the business school, maximizing effectiveness of its 14 Advisory Councils, building external partnerships, and growing revenue in executive education. Jane provided leadership to the School’s Marketing and Communications, Executive and Corporate Education, and External Partnerships and Advisory Councils. Prior to joining Ryerson’s Ted Rogers School of Management, Jane was Assistant Dean in four key portfolios at the U of T Faculty of Law, delivering exceptional results in fundraising, communications, strategic planning, revenue-generating program development, and relationship management.
Jane is the mother of a very active 6-year-old boy who loves tennis, baseball, and karate. Outside of work and family, Jane is an active member of the community, volunteering her time on the Boards of several organizations that support under-represented communities, including the Working Women Community Centre (WWCC), Young Women in Law (YWL), and more recently Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) where she is currently Board Treasurer.
Jane has a Juris Doctorate J.D. degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, a Master of Law’s degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School and has taken a number of continuing education courses in management, conflict resolution and leadership coaching. Jane regularly mediates for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and has coached executives in leadership and change management.
