Founded 60 years ago, Seaboard Transport Group (Seaboard) is a privately held organization comprised of numerous transport brands across Canada and the United States and is a recognized leader in the Bulk Truckload Industry. Seaboard has a proven history of exceptional performance in the areas of safety, product handling and logistics and has grown by providing excellent service to clients in both the petroleum and chemical industries. In more recent years, Seaboard has added rail-truck and truck-to-rail transload services and options for bulk storage of dry and liquid products, growing our team to over 3500.

 

The Vice President of Finance is a new role created as a part of a succession planning initiative aimed at bolstering leadership capabilities within our expanding company. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will provide leadership for all aspects of finance owned by Seaboard’s 40-person finance team, responsible for advancing a corporate culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

 

The Vice President is an experienced and strategic business partner who can oversee all financial aspects of our trucking and logistics operations, ensuring the financial health of the company through meticulous planning, strong financial controls, and insightful analysis. Leadership for technological and systems modernization is a key aspect of this role, ensuring we leverage shared resources, continuous improvement ideologies and industry-leading technology. A hands-on financial expert, the Vice President ensures Seaboard has the right information and the capabilities to achieve its strategic objectives while safeguarding the company’s assets and financial stability.

 

This is an onsite position based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with occasional travel required.

 

As the ideal candidate you:

  • Have a CPA designation coupled with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
  • Bring proven experience in progressively senior finance roles, with a comprehensive understanding of financial planning, analysis, and reporting, along with experience with financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Are known for your ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing finance team.
  • Have experience in large, complex, cross border operations. An understanding of the trucking and logistics industry, including industry trends, challenges, and opportunities is considered an asset.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
