Established in 1891, Advocate is Atlantic Canada’s largest commercial printing company, serving Eastern Canada and the northeastern United States with local, regional, and national clients. Advocate’s 300 employees proudly produce everything from premium lifestyle magazines, national flyers and direct mail, to brochures, business cards, and promotional materials such as signage and banners. In addition to its print operations, the company has a flyer distribution company, a commercial photography studio, a creative design studio and a publishing division which holds Advocate Media USA Inc., Advocate Media Inc., Saint Croix Printing, Publishing Company Limited, and Metro Guide Publishing Inc., serving millions of readers with print and online information. The publishing division boasts over 20 titles including Saltscapes, East Coast Living, Maine magazine, Maine Home+Design, Unravel magazines and a portfolio of community newspapers.

Advocate is seeking a Vice President, Marketing & Digital Strategy to build and lead innovative marketing programs for enhancing and diversifying Advocate’s product and service offerings to B2B and B2C customers. You will implement action plans for retooling the organization to bring a client-centric, solutions-oriented approach to its enterprise and inside sales channels, while investing in e-commerce solutions to augment its direct-to-consumer sales channel. As part of the senior leadership team, you will identify key priorities and activities for developing the Company’s brand strategy and value proposition, and for positioning Advocate as an industry leader in providing integrated digital and print promotional products and services. You will remain consistently aware of emerging competitive products and services within the various markets and effectively use customer insights and data analytics to help translate business goals into marketing strategies.

Based in Halifax or Pictou, the ideal candidate has a post-secondary degree with a focus on marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience, and 7 plus years of senior leadership experience as a marketing executive with expertise in creating integrated content across all marketing channels including digital, social media and print. A highly motivated and visionary subject matter expert, you can consistently anticipate market needs and deliver on strategic goals and expectations. Your strong e-commerce, business, technical, and marketing acumen allow you to conceive and implement strategic business plans that are bolstered by an in-depth understanding of consumer analytics and both traditional and digital delivery platforms. Your financial, analytical, and general business skills enable you to implement and monitor budgets, key performance metrics and industry data, and to lead the changes required to effectively address evolving business priorities and client needs. You have the leadership experience, the interpersonal skills, and the marketing expertise to successfully lead initiatives for creating and implementing innovative strategies for anticipating and responding to client needs and ensuring that Advocate is the supplier of choice for existing and future clients.
