President and Vice Chancellor – St. Mary’s University

Reporting directly to the Board of Governors, the President and Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer of the University.

As President and Vice-Chancellor, you will be responsible for the general management and direction of the University subject to the authority of the Board. You will be expected to inspire and engage the St. Mary’s community including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external stakeholders. As faith leader, you will maintain a distinctly Roman Catholic culture within the university community and ensure students, faculty and staff are provided opportunities for spiritual development within the University context. As an academic leader, you will provide leadership in fostering services and resources which promote the improvement of educational opportunities for all students and conditions which promote the improvement of professional development opportunities for staff and faculty. As the President and Vice-Chancellor, you will ensure the University operates in a fiscally responsible manner and you will oversee the coordination and integration of human resources within the University. You will provide support for the Board in the planning, developing, and implementing of Board policies and you will lead and report strategic planning processes of the University.

As the ideal candidate, your doctoral degree, strong foundation of experience in the liberal arts, and your passionate belief in the value of a liberal arts education in the contemporary world, have equipped you with the foundation you need to build on a history of excellence at St. Mary’s. You have a successful track record of previous leadership experience that will allow you to develop strengths in strategic thinking and the ability to communicate effectively and build consensus in a collegial environment. An inspirational and devoted leader with the ability to foster collaboration, you are able to address challenges and inspire solutions while leading St. Mary’s into the future. You are a highly collaborative and inspirational people leader and your exceptional interpersonal, listening, communication and relationship building skills enable you to inspire confidence and relate effectively with the faculty, staff, students, Board and donors alike. You have demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity and a dedication to authentically listening to different cultures, communities, points of view and perspectives. As well as a proven understanding of Indigenous perspectives and communities. Compassion, courage, and authenticity are hallmarks of your leadership.
