Chief Human Resource Officer

Horizon Health Network leads the way in bringing innovation and efficiencies to deliver sustainable, affordable, safe, and quality health-care services to residents of New Brunswick, northern Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. One of the largest employers in New Brunswick, Horizon Health has five locations across New Brunswick, operates 12 hospitals and more than 100 facilities, clinics and offices, and has an operating budget of approximately $1.2 billion. Using a collective team approach to offer services in English and French, the Horizon Health team is made up of approximately 1,100 physicians and 13,000 employees, 1,300 volunteers, 18 Foundations and 17 Auxiliary and Alumnae organizations. Horizon Health provides medical services ranging from acute care to community-based health services, facilitates and promotes research opportunities throughout the region and provides services to health-care professionals, all guided by a strategic vision of research, innovation, education and health and wellness.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) will lead strategy and delivery of human resource services across Horizon. Aligned with the human resources strategy, the CHRO will help develop human resources practices that enhance employee engagement and productivity. Together with a team of some 255 professionals, the CHRO will align Horizon’s human resources service delivery model to enable and support efficient and effective people leadership and management throughout the organization. The CHRO will be a leader of change and will develop solutions, tailor HR programs, and develop policies and practices to support employee engagement, retention, recognition and reward, and workplace health. The CHRO will foster relationships and work closely with Horizon’s Leadership Team, the Government of New Brunswick’s Department of Human Resources, and other key stakeholders.

As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced strategic human resources leader and bring knowledge of all aspects of human resources including workforce planning, compensation management, labour relations, performance management and talent acquisition. You have a demonstrated ability to align human resources strategy, programs and policies with organizational objectives and are comfortable creating accountability for achieving outcomes. You are a trusted coach, mentor and advisor and are able to build strong relationships and partnerships. Experience navigating in complex organizations, you are comfortable leading in a unionized context and are adept at achieving through and with others. The ability to communicate in both official languages will be considered an asset.
