Chief Executive Officer

Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) in communities across Canada have been helping young people to discover, develop and achieve their best potential as they grow to become Canada's future adults, citizens and leaders by engaging them in activities that challenge and help them develop healthy minds and bodies.

BGC Greater Halifax officially opened its doors on April 1st, 2016. The organization is the result of the merger of previously independently run Clubs in East Dartmouth, North Dartmouth, Sackville, Spryfield and Cole Harbour communities. These sites boast a combined total of 100 years of service within their respective neighbourhoods. BGC Greater Halifax offers a diverse and dynamic range of programs that serve children and youth from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and neighbourhoods. Helping more than 4,100 kids annually, BGC Greater Halifax provides safe, supportive spaces where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.
BGC Greater Halifax is seeking a dynamic new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization and champion its mission to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

Reporting to the Board of Directors of BGC Greater Halifax (BGCGH), the CEO will be accountable for the management and administration of BGCGH’s overall operations, for providing leadership and direction to a talented and dedicated staff, directing and managing all financial and administrative activities for the organization and ensuring the vision and strategic plans and objectives of BGCGH are successfully achieved. You will implement consistent standards of practice, compliance, risk management and reporting and ensure seamless communications with the Board of Directors and across the organization. You will build and strengthen relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government agencies, BGC colleagues across the country, community organizations, donors, volunteers, supporters, and the local community. As the public face of BGCGH, you will be a passionate advocate on its behalf, ensuring the organization has a strong presence and voice in the local community and beyond.

As the ideal candidate, you are a respected and inspirational leader with many years of experience and success in senior management positions. You have exceptional communication and relationship building skills, as well as proven business, financial and managerial acumen. You are adept at improving operational processes, implementing and overseeing key performance measurements to consistently identify opportunities for improving efficiency and service delivery, a talent for identifying innovative opportunities, and a proven track record of successfully contributing across all functional areas of an organization. You are a collaborative and humble people leader who is known for your ability to inspire others, to achieve a shared vision, and to motivate and inspire your team to drive the mandate of delivering the highest level of service, quality, and value to BGCGH’s members.
