Director of Finance

The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC) is responsible for the business of gaming in Nova Scotia. It is a Crown corporation governed by the provincial Gaming Control Act and is charged with leading an economically sustainable and socially responsible gaming industry for the benefit of Nova Scotians and their communities. NSGC is recognized as a world leader in responsible gambling with innovative programs and projects designed to help prevent problems through education and awareness.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Strategy, the Director of Finance provides corporate financial analysis, advice and guidance in addition to leadership for the design, development and implementation of financial, budgeting, auditing, reporting and information management systems and policies. As the Director of Finance, you will be a member of the Senior Management Team and you will support the President & CEO and the Board in making informed decisions. You will monitor and report on NSGC’s financial results and effectively manage the year-end audit process, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures as well as tax and legislative requirements. You will ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the finance group and contribute toward overall productivity through optimizing processes and information systems. You will play a key role in determining annual financial goals and objectives and ensure that operators’ budgets align with NSGC financial objectives.

As the ideal candidate, you bring 5-7 years in a finance role coupled with your CPA designation and previous experience in a public accounting firm. You bring a great depth of experience and aptitude in financial accounting and audit and you possess excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You have the ability to communicate financial analytics in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences and you are highly capable of assisting with complex report preparation. You are effective working both at a strategic and hands-on level and you are a team player who is passionate and confident in what you do. You have strong interpersonal and communication skills and can build seamless working relationships with operational and financial leaders across an organization.
