Vice President, Prevention and Workplace Services

Serving approximately 215,000 workers and 18,000 employers each year, WorkplaceNL administers an employer-funded, no-fault workplace compensation system that promotes safe and healthy workplaces, provides return-to-work programs and offers fair compensation to injured workers. Building on a commitment to client service excellence, WorkplaceNL has embarked on an exciting, multi-year business modernization initiative designed to continually enhance services to workers and employers. Within this context, we are now seeking to fill the newly created role of Vice President, Prevention and Workplace Services.

Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Vice President, Prevention and Workplace Services reports to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the Executive Team. The Vice President leads the Prevention, Entitlement, Compensation and Health Care functions of the organization, and provides administrative oversight of policy, programs and services related to injury and illness prevention, workplace health and safety, claims adjudication, health care and wage-loss benefits, medical support, labour market re-entry, early and safe return to work and occupational disease adjudication. This key role holds accountability for WorkplaceNL’s client service delivery and oversight of WorkplaceNL’s Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook offices. The Vice President provides leadership in applying relevant legislation, regulation and standards, as well as planning, designing and implementing policy and processes to support the organization’s strategic directions as set out by the Board of Directors and the overall goals of the provincial government regarding WorkplaceNL.

As the ideal candidate, you are a transformational leader with substantial experience bringing about change in a complex environment while building a culture of continuous improvement and client service excellence. With a strong business acumen, you are results-driven with a proven track record of leading teams that achieve targets and advance strategic outcomes. You are a highly effective, motivated leader, with exceptional interpersonal and communications skills that enable you to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You hold a degree in business, public or health care administration, commerce, social sciences or a similar discipline, preferably at the master’s level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with demonstrated leadership experience at a senior level in a public or private organization that serves a diverse client group. Direct experience in workplace injury prevention, claims adjudication and case management, or benefit or health care administration is an asset.
