Dean, Faculty of Engineering

Lakehead University, recently recognized in the Top 100 of Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, is an innovative comprehensive university that provides an education that is about how to think, not what to think. Closely tied to its enterprising spirit is a deep connection to place. Lakehead is committed to making a difference in the communities it serves, developing a broader understanding of societal issues, and inspiring action for thoughtful, positive change. The Faculty of Engineering offers innovative programs focused on preparing engineering students for the technological challenges we face domestically and globally. Lakehead Engineering graduates are recognized for their strong theoretical skills as well as their practical training and understanding of the larger economic, environmental, ethical, and societal issues that impact the engineering profession. The learner-centered approach draws on faculty research expertise and a wealth of industrial experience to make the classroom experience engaging and relevant.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering is responsible for the overall leadership of the Faculty, both strategically and operationally. The Dean is responsible for developing unique, high-quality, transformational undergraduate and graduate teaching, learning, and research experiences that encourage critical thinking, and for supporting a unique pathway for college engineering technologists to complete an engineering degree through the transfer program. The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering will also continue to expand direct entry and international enrollments, develop new graduate programs, expand existing and develop new partnership programs with partner institutions, and raise and strengthen the research profile of the Faculty. By focusing on teaching excellence, student-centered learning experiences, partnership programs and promoting research connectedness, the Dean will position the Faculty and the University more broadly in ways that meet the needs of students today, and into the future.
