Reporting to the President, the Vice-President, Research is the primary advocate for the University on research matters and policy, and is responsible for providing a systems approach to enhancing the University’s research capacity, raising the profile of research within the immediate and larger communities, and developing and enhancing effective liaison with external organizations, funding agencies, business, industry and other post-secondary institutions. The Vice-President, Research will be a key member of the University’s Executive Team who will champion a culture of research excellence at Laurentian.

As the ideal candidate, you are a visionary, creative, innovative thinker and strategic leader, attracted to a diverse culture of collegiality, inclusion and openness. You have demonstrated exceptional organizational, networking and interpersonal abilities, and a passion for research, as evidenced by a track record as a successful researcher, broad scholarly interests, and the capacity to be excited by nurturing scholars outside of your own discipline. A PhD with a significant record of scholarship consistent with appointment to the rank of full professor, you have the ability to advocate for the research needs of the entire Laurentian University community, both internally and externally. You have the energy, ability, and commitment to network and build partnerships outside the University, both nationally and internationally, and to identify and take advantage of funding opportunities from granting agencies, governments, foundations, industry and other potential partners in the University’s research enterprise. Functional bilingualism in French and English is a requirement and you are expected to be comfortable working with French, English and Indigenous communities.
