Counsellor


Our client, a rural Nova Scotia owned and operated organization, is seeking a Counsellor to join their qualified team of individuals, who are passionate about helping their clients overcome addictions.


The Counsellor is responsible for providing counselling, programing and psycho-education to individuals, families and groups in differing stages of addiction/co-addiction and treatment. The Counsellor will embody in clinical practice, a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual approach to client care and recovery from addiction. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide psychoeducational programs, individual and group therapy and advocacy for the clients. This position also involves counselling families to support a successful transition after the client’s stay.


As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced Counsellor with a working theoretical and practical knowledge of varied intervention strategies and the relative efficacy of interventions, which promote health and wellness in adult populations and addictions. Your clinical training in intervention, research, ethics and standards are paired with a demonstrated strength in provision of individual and group counselling. You have experience integrating various psychotherapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing. The ideal candidate will bring a strength of working with differential addictions and mental health and will have familiarity with co-occurring disorders. You are a clear communicator, active listener and enjoy working in a dynamic team-oriented, client focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree in Counselling/Social Work/Psychology and are registered with, or eligible to be registered with, a relevant provincial body.
